The Purpose
My mission is to make the key principles of finance widespread. From my experience, small businesses neglect the financial aspects of running a business. Instead, they spend hours analysing their product/service, customers, employees, vendors, and their communities. Rach of these parts is core to operating a business, however, the financial aspects are just as important. The best part about it… the concepts can be easily learned! By sharing my learnings and understanding of finance, I will offer you an opportunity to grow, improve, and strengthen your SMB in ways you may not have considered.
Background
My first taste of small businesses was during my final internship where I looked at much smaller companies. Realising that most small businesses do not implement, or are simply unaware of fundamental financial principles, I saw a significant opportunity to create value for small, local businesses. My current job involves analysing, acquiring, and improving the financial aspects of SMBs on the Corporate Development* team of Constellation Software giving me lots of exposure to the everyday problems of small businesses. While we specialise in software companies, the fundamental principles of finance apply to any business, industry, or business model.
